Magnetic-domain samples were measured using an ISE system under an externally applied magnetic field. This is conceptually like the magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) system.
MOKE produces field-dependent changes in the polarization state of reflected light, and ISE quantifies polarization-related parameters (Ψ and Δ) in a spatially resolved manner, magnetic-domain contrast can be captured in ISE images.
Accordingly, field-dependent contrast consistent with MOKE-like optical variations associated with sample magnetization was observed.
